How to Use The Fentanyl FIA Test

How to use fentanyl FIA tests

Interpreting Results

  • Negative Result: A fluorescence signal develops in the test line (T), confirming fentanyl concentration is lower than 1 ng/mL.
  • Positive Result: No fluorescence signal in the test line (T): Indicates fentanyl concentration meets or exceeds the cutoff of 1 ng/mL.
  • Quality Control Check: The control line (C) must always display a signal to confirm the test was performed correctly.

Easy Steps To Use

  1. Preparation:
    • Collect urine sample.
    • Place the test on a clean, flat surface after removing it from the protective pouch.
  2. Sample Application: Add 3 drops of urine into the sample well of the test device.
  3. Testing Mode:
    • Standard Mode: Insert the test card in the FIA Reader immediately. Start the test with a single button press for automated testing and results.
    • Quick Mode: Manually incubate the sample outside the device, then insert the test card into the FIA Reader for results.
  4. Completion: Within 5 minutes, the FIA Reader processes and displays the test results.

Why Choose the Fentanyl FIA Test?

Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, presents significant challenges in clinical and substance-use management. With the surge in fentanyl-related overdoses, healthcare providers require fast, accurate, and reliable testing tools. Enter the Fentanyl FIA Test, a CLIA waived device designed to simplify fentanyl detection while maintaining superior accuracy.

The Fentanyl FIA Test Kit combines cutting-edge fluorescence immunoassay (FIA) technology with ease of use, offering healthcare professionals an unparalleled solution for fentanyl testing. Here’s why it’s a standout tool in medical diagnostics:

  • Qualitative Accuracy: The test provides precise, qualitative results for detecting fentanyl in human urine.
  • Ease of Use: With its streamlined operation and CLIA waived status, this device is adaptable to both point-of-care settings and laboratories.
  • Rapid Turnaround: Results are generated in just 5 minutes, allowing for faster clinical decision-making.

This combination of features positions the BioSieve-compatible fentanyl FIA test as an essential tool for healthcare facilities aiming to deliver timely and efficient care.

Understanding the 1 ng/mL Cutoff

The 1 ng/mL cutoff is a critical aspect of the Fentanyl FIA test. This low threshold ensures the detection of even minute concentrations of fentanyl in urine, delivering high sensitivity for clinical use. Here’s why this matters:

  • Enhanced Detection: The 1 ng/mL cutoff is ideal for detecting fentanyl presence in cases where concentrations are very low but still clinically relevant.
  • Reliable Preliminary Results: While specific confirmatory tests like LC-MS/MS remain the gold standard, the FIA test serves as an excellent first step for screening.

Accuracy is further reinforced by competitive binding principles ensured through fluorescence immunochromatography, minimizing false positives and negatives.

The Significance of a CLIA Waived Status

The CLIA waived fentanyl FIA test is approved for simple and accurate use in non-laboratory settings, such as clinics, physician offices, and treatment centers. Here’s how this certification benefits healthcare providers:

  • Accessibility: Requires no elaborate training to operate, making it ideal for point-of-care environments.
  • Time-Saving: Eliminates the need for laboratory testing for initial fentanyl screening.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) standards, ensuring quality test performance.

For facilities prioritizing efficiency without compromising reliability, the CLIA-waived status adds a layer of convenience and trustworthiness.

How Rapid Results Impact Healthcare Settings

Time is often of the essence in healthcare. The ability to deliver results in 5 minutes makes the Fentanyl FIA test a game-changer. Here’s how fast turnaround times benefit different settings:

  • Emergency Rooms: Quickly identify fentanyl exposure in overdose cases, enabling immediate intervention.
  • Rehabilitation Centers: Monitor ongoing drug use among patients and adjust treatment plans in real-time.
  • Clinics and Physician Offices: Provide same-visit testing for substance-use assessments during patient consultations.

Speed doesn’t just improve workflows—it saves lives, particularly in overdose cases where every second counts.

Ship Date and Zip Code Results

Why Does My Tracking Info Still Say "Label Created, Not yet in the System" When I Placed It X Days Ago?

If your order was placed via USPS, sometimes your label might not show up in their system even 1-3 days after they have received the package. The same can happen for UPS orders, although they almost always show up in their system the night which they are shipped. If you have any questions regarding the status of your order, please contact us and we will investigate the matter.

If I Pay for a next Day Air Delivery, Am I Guaranteed to Receive It the next Day?

Air deliveries performed by UPS are counted via business days, so you will receive your package the business day after it has been shipped. We also do not ship orders placed after 4 pm EST on the same day, so Next Day orders placed after 4 pm will be shipped the following business day.

Why Can't I Check the Tracking of My Package?

After you place your order, an email will be sent to you with the tracking number within a business day. If you did not receive this email, it’s possible that the e-mail was entered incorrectly, sent to your spam folder, or blocked. If you did not receive this email, please call or email us and we’ll be happy to give you the status of your shipment.

I Placed My Order but I No Longer Need It. Can I Return It and Get a Refund?

We accept returns for unused items as long as they are placed within 30 days after the day they are purchased. Although shipping is free upon order, we still incur a cost for every order that is shipped, and you will be refunded the amount of your order once we receive the returned goods, minus the cost of shipping.
