What Can A 10 Panel Instant Urine Drug Test Show?
There are many different instant tests on the market that all test for different drugs. It is important to know what our 10 drug panel tests are for and what any positives (and negatives) might mean.
As a quick starting point, it is important to check what prescriptions a person already has before testing. The individual being tested may have legal and medical reasons for taking some of the drugs that show up in these tests. Let’s look at each of these drugs in detail to get a better idea of what different substances do and how severe they are.
Amphetamines are synthetic mood-altering drugs commonly found in both legal and illegal situations due to their addictive nature. Legally, it is a prescription drug for the treatment of ADD, narcolepsy, and ADHD in both children and adults.
Illegally, it has used as a stimulant to keep oneself awake and active for longer than normal. The detection time for amphetamines in our test is for up to 1-2 days.
Benzodiazepines are an entire class of drugs with the difference lying in how long they last. They are less addictive than barbiturates, which BZOs have generally replaced in medical care – but they can still show up illegally.
They work in a similar manner by depressing the central nervous system. In illegal situations, they are used as a stimulant.
They are also used for the treatment of sleep disorders, seizures, and anxiety in both children and adults. Benzodiazepines are detectable for up to 1-2 days after use.
This is a treatment drug that works to lower dependence on drugs such as heroin or opiates by making the withdrawal symptoms less severe. Its potential for misuse is lower because of its medicinal purposes. However, individuals using who do not have these addictions may find buprenorphine addictive in and of itself.
Frequently, the users of this drug are responsible individuals and have a doctor’s prescription. Of course, if this drug comes up positive on the test, it is important to check that they are using it for treatment by prescription. This drug is detectable 2-6 days from use.
Cocaine is a very addictive stimulant that only has rare legal use, such as for anesthetic during surgeries or in dental care.
It causes feelings of alertness and energy, and after use can cause feelings of fatigue, anxiety, and depression. It is detectable for up to 2-4 days in our test.
This is a psychoactive drug that alters mood, perception, and can cause hallucinations. Currently, all states in the US criminalize the use, sale, transport, and manufacture of MDMA. Our test can detect it for up to 2-4 days after use.
Marijuana (also known by many other names such as cannabis, weed, ganja, or Mary Jane) is a common drug for both recreational and medicinal purposes. While Marijuana is legal in many states, it has yet to receive federal approval.
In the medical industry, it is frequently used for pain management for a variety of diseases as well as for diseases and mental health conditions like PTSD. It can be detected around 3-30 days after use with our multi-drug test panel.
This drug works similarly to buprenorphine as a treatment drug that is useful in assisting people in recovery from heroin and opiate addictions. Methadone works to lessen the pain and thereby reduce withdrawal symptoms.
When used responsibly, the potential for misuse is low, but in those without previous addictions, it can be problematic. Our tests can detect this drug 1-3 days after use.
Methamphetamine (mAMP or MET)
Methamphetamines are highly addictive stimulants. It is also known as meth or crystal. These illicit drugs come with many bad side effects, especially ones that are long-term.
The sale, transport, possession, or use of this drug is highly illegal with long prison terms. Our test can detect methamphetamine use within 2-4 days.
This is a medication that is frequently legally prescribed to treat severe pain. However, as an opioid drug, it is has a high possibility for misuse and it can have dangerous withdrawal effects. Morphine use displays on our test 2-3 days after use.
Similar to morphine, oxycodone is a pain medication, but it should only be used when symptoms are untreatable with any other drug. Oxycodone is highly addictive. It is important to check whether the employee has a prescription for oxycodone if they test positive. It is detectable for up to 1-3 days after use.
How to Use a 10 Panel Dip Drug Test Strip
Our drug tests are all quick and easy to use. Just follow these seven simple steps and you will have all the information you need about the drug use of an individual. Let’s take a look at these steps.
First, remove the drug test strip from its packaging and sealed foil pouch. Make sure to check for any damage from the shipping process before you proceed.
Expose the absorbent test strips by removing the cap from the dip card. Set the cap aside for later use. For more information and troubleshooting, check our Knowledge Base here.
Collect the urine sample from the donor with identifying information on the sample. This is so you can prevent any mix-ups.
Immerse the test strips into the urine sample for five seconds. At this time, do not let the urine sample touch the plastic component of the dip card. If it does touch, it could lead to inconclusive results.
Now, replace the cap over the used strips on the rapid test dip card. Lay it flat on a clean and non-absorbing surface.
The results should show themselves after a 5-minute wait. Each drug will have a label and have a C and T lettered section that will begin to show a colored line.
Now it is finally time to read the results. It is important to read the results immediately; after 10 minutes, the results will no longer be accurate. Let’s look at how you can read the results quickly and easily in the next section.
How to Read a 10 Panel Drug Test Strip
Reading our drug test dip caps is easy. There are three different results you can receive with a 10-panel urine drug test card.
A test will result as positive when just one colored back appears next to the letter “C” (for control). If there is no color in the T section (for test), then the result is positive.
A negative result will display as two colored bands on the membrane. Both C and T will have a colored band display next to them to indicate a negative test.
An invalid result will show up as a colored band next to the letter T. This indicates that a conclusion wasn’t reached and the test needs to be discarded and repeated with a new test. Be careful to read the procedures about how to get results before trying again.
