A 10-panel drug test is a urine-based screening that detects ten commonly abused drugs — marijuana (THC), cocaine, opiates, PCP, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, methaqualone (Quaaludes) and propoxyphene. Reading a 10-panel cup works the same as any panel cup. Every panel has a control region (C) and a test region (T): a line in the control region confirms the test is functional, while the test region shows whether the drug is present. A traditional 10-panel drug test does not include fentanyl, which is why it is usually only found on 13-panel tests and above. Our 10 panel drug test cup, however, adds a dedicated fentanyl (FEN/1) assay at a 1 ng/mL cutoff, so it screens for fentanyl in addition to the standard ten drugs. Standard 10-panel drug tests typically do not test for alcohol. The ten substances usually included are cocaine, marijuana (THC), PCP, amphetamines, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, propoxyphene and Quaaludes. To screen for alcohol, use a dedicated EtG alcohol urine test, which can detect recent alcohol use for up to roughly 80 hours.

Tramadol is a synthetic opioid that is not typically included in a standard 10-panel drug test, and it is not consistently identified by standard opiate panels. To screen for it, use a dedicated tramadol (TML) test, or step up to a broader 12-panel or 14-panel cup that can include synthetic and semi-synthetic opioids. The difference is how many drug classes each one detects. A 5-panel drug test screens for five substances — amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana (THC), opiates and phencyclidine (PCP). A 10-panel drug test covers those same five plus barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, methaqualone and propoxyphene. 5-panel tests are common with private employers, while 10-panel tests suit workplaces with stricter requirements, such as government agencies.

Yes a 10-panel drug test can potentially detect synthetic urine, though it largely depends on the quality of the sample and the sensitivity of the test.
